Come along and celebrate Southbank’s cultural diversity with celebrated Rangoli artist Vijaya Mohan and learn to paint your own rangoli. There will be fun free activities including live music, food and craft happenings throughout the day.

Australian Football Unity Cup JJ Holland park |

Created by the Essendon Football Club and the Australian Federal Police in partnership with AFL Multicultural Programs, the Unity Cup focuses on strengthening ties between the police and culturally and linguistically diverse communities and introduces the game to boys and girls between the ages of 15-21.
Thirteen teams, (nine boys and four girls) are set to compete on (日) 3月 16 at JJ Holland Reserve, Kensington as part of a special family day.
This year the Unity Cup has partnered with the Kensington Community Festival, meaning a variety of stalls, musical performances and activities for kids will ensure it’s a great day out for players and supporters alike.

Harmony Day La Mama Theatre performance: JOURNEY |

JOURNEY is a contemporary dance project that combines dance, a video and photographic exhibition. The artists focus on cultural identity and cultural exchange. The project explores the experiences of people who migrate from Eastern cultures to Western countries.
This project will support local people around the Carlton Estate to develop performance skills to present at the Harmony Day 2014 Festival.

Celebrate Cultural Diversity Week with members of the Turkish community at the 7th Commonwealth Bank Queen Victoria Market Turkish Pazar Festival.
Pazar is the Turkish word for both Sunday and bazaar. Join us at this free event for a day of fun featuring Turkish music and folklore performances. See traditional arts and crafts and learn some new skills. Buy a magic Turkish carpet to take home. Plan a trip to Turkey.
Taste and savour traditional, tasty, and economical foods including everybody’s favourite gözleme (savoury pancakes). Find out where to buy those mystical cooking ingredients in Melbourne. Watch the military precision of the colourful Mehteran, the first Ottoman style 3月ing band established outside Turkey. You can also meet a traditional story teller and do not miss the opportunity to have your fortune told over a Turkish coffee while sitting in a traditional tea garden, while enjoying the many other Turkish delights offered by the Queen Victoria Market Turkish Pazar Festival.

The Lord Mayor’s Student Welcome |

The Lord Mayor’s Student Welcome is a special event that recognises and celebrates students’ contributions to the cultural life and diversity of the City (including nearly 36,000 international students who live and study in Melbourne’s central city.)
This award-winning event, produced by young people for young people, gives students an opportunity to meet other students and enjoy cultural performances, interactive activities, roving entertainers, workshops and information stalls.
The day will also feature the LMSW2014 Fashion Runway with designers SAEJ Design, Black Sunshine Clothing, Von Chibi, Leiela There She Is, Maison Barski, Cherry Pie Accessories and Zorza Goodman Millinery
Miss Humanity Australia, Ashleigh Wheeldon (dressed in Maison Barski and her fascinator will be designed by Zorza Goodman, runner up in the Melbourne Cup Carnival ‘Millinery Competition’). Ashleigh is an ambassador for A21, an organisation that advocates for the prevention of human trafficking. |
