SCHOLARSHIPS FOR IN-COUNTRY LANGUAGE STUDY IN CHINA,
INDONESIA, JAPAN OR KOREA
The Hamer Scholarships offer Victorians the opportunity for language study and cultural engagement with the dynamic and exciting markets of China, Indonesia, Japan or Korea.
These four leading world economies are making a significant contribution to Victoria’s cultural diversity and economic prosperity. Live and study in China, Indonesia, Japan or Korea and improve language skills and cultural understanding; develop business and peopleto-people networks; and contribute to Victoria’s international engagement.
• Hamer Scholarships are valued at $10,000 for language study in China or Indonesia
and $15,000 for language study in Japan or Korea.
• The scholarships are offered for a minimum of one semester or 5 – 6 months study
at selected universities or institutions in these countries.
• The next Hamer Scholarships application round will open in February 2017.
• Check website for exact application dates.
• The program is open to Victorians aged 21 or above who are Australian citizens
or permanent residents (Victorians living and working in China, Indonesia, Japan
or Korea may be considered).
• The scholarships are primarily aimed at Victorians working in the public,
private, not-for-profit and creative and academic industries.
• Applicants should demonstrate how the scholarship would significantly benefit their
business, career path, study plan, or their employer’s current or future engagement
with China, Indonesia, Japan or Korea.
• Scholarship recipients will become business, cultural and educational representatives for Victoria.
